In 2017, our community space for events - formerly known as the Family Meeting Center - received a complete make-over. The Coast Guard Foundation wished to support our Sector AOR community and, as a result, provided a grant of $10,000. Due to the Foundations generosity, we offered our community a wholly renovated space to facilitate morale gatherings. The project was led by Spouse Club leadership and the Sector New York Command.
After the team developed a plan and budget, we relied mainly on Coastie volunteers for all of the labor. Hours were spent on demo, painting, installing lighting, new cabinets in both bathrooms and kitchen area, purchasing furniture and decorations, laying down new flooring, and finally putting it all together.

The results were remarkable, and the whole Sector can now have a beautiful space to hold all their events like birthdays, meetings, dinners, baby showers, etc., for free. We hope you take advantage of this great amenity offered here in Ft. Wadsworth Base Housing!

The space includes a lounge living area, a kitchen, a dining area, a playroom, two bathrooms (one is ADA), and an unfurnished room for tables, dancing, or movie nights. The Center also has an outdoor deck with a grill.
